Resident doctors will begin a five-day strike starting tomorrow, Friday 14 November.
During the strike
- Attend scheduled appointments unless you are contacted and told they have been postponed.
- Use NHS 111 online for urgent medical advice.
- Call 999 only if it’s a life-threatening emergency.
- Expect delays for non-urgent cases and be prepared for longer waiting times in A&E, especially as the strike coincides with the winter period.
- GP practices will likely remain open but may be affected, as many are training practices.
What to expect
- Hospital services will be disrupted, and it will take time for them to return to normal after the strike.
- During the strike, life-saving care will be the priority, meaning that less urgent cases may be de-prioritized.
- Contingency plans are in place to minimize disruption, but some disruption is unavoidable.
