Age UK Bedfordshire

Age UK Bedfordshire is a local charity based in Bedford and operating throughout the whole of Bedfordshire and Luton for the benefit of all older people in the County.

We are a local partner of Age UK. Because of this we are able to effectively bring the views and opinions of the older people of Bedfordshire and Luton to the attention of local and national government.

 

The Avenue

The Avenue holds relaxed, informal support groups in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. Families can come and chat to other families who understand the highs and lows of living with a child with Autism.

Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Health and Care Partnership

Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire is a partner of the Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Health and Care Partnership. This is an integrated care system (ICS) formally established on 1 July 2022.

With the NHS, councils and other organisations working together in partnership, residents who have a range of health and care needs will be supported in a more joined up way. It should make accessing services simpler and the support provided more effective.

Carers in Bedfordshire is a registered charity existing to help family carers and former carers cope with the mental and physical stress arising from their role. We offer assistance such as practical help, advice, training, advocacy, support and information.

Advice services for disabled people

Groundwork Luton & Bedfordshire

Groundwork Luton & Bedfordshire delivers evening youth provision across the whole of Central Bedfordshire. We also deliver a busy youth café and youth action programme in Houghton Regis. Groundwork also provides 1 to 1 mentoring to 10 – 18 year olds across the whole of Central Bedfordshire. The mentoring project is for those who have low to medium needs, including issues with attainment, behaviour and attendance at school.

Headway Bedford

A charity who support adults in Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough who have had an acquired brain injury e.g. from a stroke, head trauma or illness where it has caused damage to brain tissue.

Leighton Buzzard Voluntary Patient Transport (LBVPT)

Leighton Buzzard Voluntary Patient Transport (LBVPT) provides transport for the elderly and vulnerable to and from local hospitals.

The service is available to those who do not qualify for NHS non-emergency transport or are unable to go to hospital appointments by any other means.

LBVPT asks for a donation to cover the cost of providing the service.

Marie Curie – Care and support at the end of life

We believe everyone should get to lead the best life they can, right to the end. Our services help people living with any terminal illness, and their families, make the most of the time they have left.

SCB is a local, independent charity which aims to enhance the independence and quality of life of blind and partially sighted people, in Bedfordshire and Luton.

St John’s Hospice, Moggerhanger

Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice is situated in the village of Moggerhanger in Bedfordshire. Set in its own grounds and surrounded by farmland, it’s a haven of tranquillity while being accessible from nearby Sandy and Bedford. They care for people who are approaching the end of their lives with progressive illnesses. We have a 15-bed inpatient unit which is open round the clock.

VoiceAbility is an independent charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy and involvement services. We work with all kinds of people and all ages. Many of our services are specifically for people with long-term conditions such as mental health conditions, dementia or a learning disability.
