Carers in Bedfordshire
We are an experienced charity supporting Unpaid Carers, of all ages, across Bedfordshire. We provide individual support, training to help Carers develop new skills, grants and four Carers Hubs across the county where Carers can meet our Support Workers and other Carers who understand their situation.

Carers UK
Caring for a family member or someone else close to you?
We’re here for unpaid carers with expert information, advice and support. We also campaign to make life better for carers.
No matter what you’re experiencing as a carer, we’re here to help with information, advice and support for your wellbeing.

Central Bedfordshire Council – Support for Carers
A carer is anyone who provides unpaid care for a family member or friend who, due to illness, disability, a mental health problem, or an addiction, can’t cope without their support.
People who provide unpaid care and support to others view themselves as doing what anyone else would do for a loved one, rather than seeing themselves as carers. Although there are many positive and rewarding aspects to caring, there are lots of reasons why the experience can also leave the carer needing support.

Central Bedfordshire Council – Support for Young Carers
Are you a child or young person who cares for a brother, sister, parent, or family member?
Life for a young carer can be demanding, as they take on a caring role whilst attending school, studying for exams, and finding time for friends and caring for themselves.
Our offer is available to all young carers registered with us, including the many fun events, activities, and trips we arrange! Parents need to register their children as young carers with the council.

Mobilise
Mobilise is the UK’s digital platform for unpaid carers, trusted by local authorities and carer organisations.
We’re an online business led by carers, for carers. We provide weekly digests of carers’ top tips, community support and a space to connect with people in similar positions.
Together we’re figuring it out, with a giggle, a wobble and a healthy dose of humour.

Respite at Home Volunteers
Can we help you and someone you care for who has a life limiting illness, with some free time and support? Our volunteers visit, give practical help where it’s needed and become a supporting friend during the illness and beyond.
We are on hand to help those who prefer to be cared for in their own homes.

Talk to your Energy Supplier
Most energy providers will provide something known as a Priority Services Register (PSR). So just in case there’s a power cut or issue in our local area, then they can ensure it’s back up and running smoothly as you’ll have priority.
Learn more about the PSR by visiting the website.

Talking to your GP
If your GP (General Practitioner) knows that you are a carer, they can provide you with really useful support, advice and information. For example, they can refer you to local support networks in your area or help you understand what you’re entitled to as a carer – such as a free flu jab.
It’s important to tell them about your caring responsibilities so that they can offer support.
