Resident doctors will begin a five-day strike starting tomorrow, Friday 14 November.

During the strike

  • Attend scheduled appointments unless you are contacted and told they have been postponed.
  • Use NHS 111 online for urgent medical advice.
  • Call 999 only if it’s a life-threatening emergency.
  • Expect delays for non-urgent cases and be prepared for longer waiting times in A&E, especially as the strike coincides with the winter period.
  • GP practices will likely remain open but may be affected, as many are training practices.

What to expect

  • Hospital services will be disrupted, and it will take time for them to return to normal after the strike.
  • During the strike, life-saving care will be the priority, meaning that less urgent cases may be de-prioritized.
  • Contingency plans are in place to minimize disruption, but some disruption is unavoidable.
