World Suicide Prevention Day 2026The 10th September marks World Suicide Prevention Day, an opportunity to raise awareness of suicide and promote positive action.

This year’s theme is ‘Change the Narrative’ and is all about transforming how suicide is perceived, aiming to inspire individuals, communities, organisations, and Governments to engage in open and honest conversations about this complex issue.

We can all play a part in preventing suicides.

Suicidal thoughts are more common than people may realise, however, by raising awareness, reducing the stigma, even by using the word ‘suicide’ appropriately, and encouraging well-informed action can help to reduce instances of suicide.

Free suicide training

There is a FREE Zero Suicide Alliance training course available online, which in only 20-minutes, can teach you the skills and confidence to have a potentially life-saving conversation with someone you may be concerned about.

Please also remember that if you are struggling with your mental health, do seek professional help, and talk with your GP.
