Review for Bedford Hospital

A&E is usually better than our experience last Tuesday pm. The wait for blood tests was over 5 hours, the last hour of which was on a chair in the AAU effectively bed blocking because there was not a doctor to confirm the ‘all clear’ and discharge me. The discussions with the nursing team re the symptoms clearly were not relayed to a doctor resulting in this delay. Additionally staff seemed unsupported again when they were confronted by a male who had ‘lost it’ in the waiting room and at a time when infection control is top of the agenda the wating area looked unclean. Bedford has challenges, and the journey through A&E has often been better than this. I hope that this evening was a blip.
