Sue, a volunteer with Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire, along with her online cancer dance group and daughter, performed at the Guildhall in London for Angela Rippon’s initiative – ‘Let’s Dance‘.
Let’s Dance was born out of a simple idea:
Dance has the power to transform lives.
When Angela Rippon CBE reconnected with dance on Strictly Come Dancing, she saw first-hand the physical, mental, and social benefits of dancing regularly. Inspired by her journey and the conversations it sparked across the UK – particularly among older adults – Angela partnered with national organisations to launch a campaign that brings dance to everyone.
Sue says,
Performing with others is powerful. Dancing in front of Strictly judges Anton De Beke and Craig Revel Horwood is daunting. Especially if you have two in-person run-throughs with women you have never met and 30 minutes later you are performing.
Sue’s online cancer dance group, ‘Move Dance Feel‘, describes themselves as a creative community. Their mission is to address inequality in cancer care by making dance available to all women living with and beyond cancer. They also welcome women supporting someone with cancer or grieving a loved one.
Why not get involved yourself, there is a National Day for Dance on 2nd March 2025, a good time to start!
