A new community service for people living with musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and pain has launched across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.
The new Community MSK and Pain Service, provided by Cora Health, began on 1 October 2026 and brings together community-based assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and pain management through a single service across the BLMK area.
The service aims to make it easier for people to access the right support closer to home, with a focus on earlier assessment, personalised care and helping people understand and manage their symptoms.
What support is available?
The new service includes:
- Clinical assessment, triage and rehabilitation for MSK conditions
- Community pain services for people living with chronic non-cancer pain
- Advanced assessment and treatment where needed
- Access to diagnostic investigations and onward referral where clinically appropriate
- Support to help people manage their condition and symptoms themselves
- Advice, guidance and educational support for health professionals
Cora Health is the UK’s largest community provider of MSK and pain services, supporting more than 650,000 people each year. Its approach brings together GPs, hospitals, community organisations and local residents, with a focus on prevention, quicker diagnosis and supporting people to manage their health.
The new service replaces existing community MSK services previously provided by different organisations across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes. Bringing these services together under one provider is intended to create a more consistent and straightforward pathway for patients across the region.
The transition has been carefully planned, with work taking place between the ICB, Cora Health and outgoing providers to support the safe transfer of patients and maintain continuity of care.
