Volunteer weekAs a thank you, from all of us at Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire and Young Healthwatch Central Bedfordshire, during Volunteers Week we:

Volunteer thank you cards

  • Produced a video which was sent to all volunteers and shared on our website and across Social Media platforms
  • Sent personalised cards to HWCB volunteers
  • Hosted a HWCB volunteers Zoom chat, where we all brought two facts about ourselves, one true and one not, with Den fooling most of us and winning this round ….. we found out some interesting things about our volunteers’ lives, including:
    • rubbing shoulders with Royalty
    • being a bodyguard for Princess Diana
    • playing with Prince Charles’ toys
    • meeting The Beatles
    • singing a duet with an 80s pop star, ‘Tony Hadley’
    • being a catwalk model
    • winning a grand prix at Brands Hatch
    • awarded numerous kickboxing trophies
    • watching the ‘Dambusters’ movie with the inventor of the bouncing bomb, Barnes Neville Wallis
    • touching an MPs leg
    • appearing on Breakfast TV
    • appearing on a ‘Hot Chocolate’ album cover
    • shaking hands with Michael Bolton
    • having a telephone call with Tim Lovejoy about skiing
  • All Young Healthwatch volunteers received a hand-delivered card, volunteering certificate – some having completed an outstanding 60 hours of volunteering- and a cone of sweets.

Thank you sweets for young volunteers

Not just for Volunteers Week, we will continue to hold weekly Zoom drop-in chats for HWCB volunteers on Thursdays at 2pm, and the Young HW Volunteers are invited to join a multi-Healthwatch Quiz with other youngsters, to grow their social and volunteering network.
