UPDATE 18.03.20

Unfortunately the Meet the Directors events next week have been cancelled. SNAP will be working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council and the CCG to arrange meetings across the county over a 6 week period.

Meet the directors

If your child or children access special educational needs services in Central Bedfordshire, the Council are inviting you to the first in a series of events to create a different way of working with them, health services and the area’s parent carer forum.

This comes following the recent joint Ofsted and Care Quality Commission inspection into Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) services across the area, as well as feedback from parents.

So that you can participate and have your say on the services you receive, you can attend one of the following sessions (venues still to be confirmed):

  • 24th of March: 18:00-20:00 (Flitwick area)
  • 31st of March: 11:00-13:00 (Leighton Buzzard area)
  • 31st of March: 18:00 – 20:00 (Leighton Buzzard area)
  • 1st of April: 10:00-12:00 (Biggleswade area)
  • 1st of April 18:00 – 20:00 (Biggleswade area)

Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) will be in touch with further details once they are confirmed, but the meetings will be attended by their Director of Children’s Services, Sue Harrison, Anne Murray (Chief Nurse at BLMK Commissioning Collaborative) and Kirsty Green (Director of SNAP Parent Carer Forum).

CBC have been working for some time with SNAP, their parent carer forum, to plan a different way of engaging with a wider group of parents and these sessions will be the start of a big conversation about SEND services.

It’s important that as many people as possible attend these meetings so they get the opportunity to contribute and share their experiences.

There will also be further opportunities for parents and young people to contribute to the planning and delivery of services as, over the next 12 months, the Council will hold more sessions across Central Bedfordshire.
