Mobile testing unit will be available in Arlesey this week
Following an increase in COVID-19 cases in the Stotfold, Arlesey and Shefford area a mobile testing unit will be available in Arlesey this week.
At the end of last week, we confirmed there were 11 cases in this area in the week ending 16 August, this was a marked increase compared to the one case the week before. Since then there have been a further 6 confirmed cases in the week ending 23 August. We expect this number to change over the next few days as the results of anyone tested at the end of the week come through.
To help avoid spreading the virus everyone needs to keep:
- social distancing – keep 2m apart from anyone outside your household or bubble
- wearing face coverings in settings where they are mandatory or if you think you are unable to maintain social distancing
- washing your hands regularly
Some people do not show symptoms, so it is more important than ever that we don’t take risks and stick to following these measures to control the spread.
Got symptoms? get tested
If you have symptoms, however mild, stay at home other than to get tested.
Working together with our colleagues in the NHS, we have arranged for a mobile testing unit to be available this week at:
Pendleton Sports Centre at Etonbury Academy
This will make it easier for residents in the area to be tested if they have symptoms.
The unit will be a drive-through test centre in the car park on the following days:
- Wednesday, 26 August
- Thursday, 27 August
- Saturday, 29 August
Residents can book a test via the NHS website (bookings for the mobile testing unit in Arlesey should be available from this evening).
